A direct current (DC) to direct current (DC) converter is an electrical circuit or electromechanical device that transforms a direct current (DC) source from one voltage level to another. It is a form of the energy converter. Power levels range from extremely low (tiny batteries) to extremely high (high-voltage power transmission).
The charge pumps work by pushing a charge along the diode chain as the charge of the capacitor and discharge sequentially throughout each cycle. By raising the frequency of the switches or utilizing a large output capacitance, the ripple voltage may be significantly minimized.
